Description
Prelumen Analytics connects your website to Prelumen and displays traffic totals, homepage checks and findings inside the WordPress dashboard. Connect through hosted Prelumen login or registration, select an organisation and project, and approve access. No manually copied API key is required. An eligible new account starts with a Trial and falls back to Free; paid plans are available through the dashboard billing action.
External services
Connecting explicitly starts communication with the Prelumen service at https://analytics.prelumen.com. The plugin sends the public website URL and a randomly generated installation credential for verification, loads the visitor tracker and retrieves aggregated reports. Prelumen verifies a short-lived public challenge on your site and scans the public homepage. The installation credential remains on the WordPress server and is never shown in the dashboard.
Tracking sends website-activity data to Prelumen. The WordPress Consent API controls full, anonymous or disabled tracking when a consent integration is present. Without that integration the configured tracker loads, with cookie persistence disabled. Administrators should configure consent for their use case before connecting.
Connection does not enable platform metadata or WooCommerce uploads. Their backend endpoints exist, but uploads are not yet implemented in this plugin.

This code is part of the WordPress plugin release, not a separate third-party

Installation
- Upload the plugin ZIP through Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
- Activate “Prelumen Analytics”.
- Open Prelumen and choose an existing account or account creation. Continue at Prelumen, select/create an organisation and project, approve access, then return to WordPress and choose “Complete connection”.
- Your website must be publicly reachable over HTTPS, including its WordPress REST API.
- Open Prelumen again to view results. Checks and results update daily when the backend scheduler and WordPress cron are running.
Existing manually configured installations can still use Settings > Prelumen Analytics.
FAQ
-
Is a Prelumen account required?
-
Yes. Choose an existing account or create one at Prelumen, then select or create an organisation and matching project and approve access. No manual API key is needed. Previously connected installations can use their saved recovery credential. Websites belonging to another organisation are never reassigned automatically.
-
Are results always live?
-
Reports cover 30 days and exclude bots. Today’s traffic is provisional. Report generation, retrieval and check dates are shown separately. Current account permissions are checked independently of the report cache; protected results are hidden when access cannot be confirmed. Daily checks require an eligible plan and functioning schedulers. Free retains visitor statistics; existing check scores are historical results.
-
What happens when I disconnect?
-
The installation credential is revoked, scheduled refreshes stop, local reports are removed and this plugin stops loading the tracker. Existing backend analytics are not deleted. Reconnecting on the same site and service uses a separately encrypted recovery credential, preserving the project and tariff. Lost credentials or changed WordPress salts may require account support. Disconnecting does not cancel a paid subscription.
-
The project-specific Prelumen badge is optional and disabled by default. Enable it explicitly under Settings > Prelumen Analytics > Features. Your theme must call wp_footer(). The badge loads an image from Prelumen without a Referer or page-URL parameter and does not override tracking consent.
-
How do I upgrade or install updates?
-
Use the Prelumen dashboard billing action for plan upgrades and subscription management. Account changes made outside WordPress are applied on the next status check. For ZIP-distributed plugin updates, upload the newer ZIP through Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and choose to replace the installed version. Automatic plugin updates require a supported distribution channel; this ZIP does not install a custom updater.
